Experience a symphony of creativity as you delve into the art of crafting your future abode on the canvas of your vision. Let your imagination soar, and then ground it in the earth beneath your feet.
Bring forth a vision of your dwelling and sharpen it from every angle using hand drawn plan views, elevations, cross sections, detail drawings, and scale models. Bioarchitecture can be an enormously creaitve process that is enjoyable, bringing your deepest goals to fruition. The house and it's design at the center of the life you envision, blossoming into the tangible.
Join us for the Bioarchitecture Primer and be guided through our design process for 6 days via zoom, followed by 3 days of hands-on training. Learn Bioarchitecture and Permaculture design principles. Discuss siting of buildings and how they relate to the larger landscape plan. Consider pattern language design options, natural building methods, and appropriate technologies. Discover how the electrical fields of buildings affect living beings. Think sacred geometry and electrically compatible materials.
Several expert guest speakers will join us including Dan Winter, Arturo Ponce de Leon, Michael Rice, Ahmed Wafik, Larry Santoyo, Jim Gale, and more. From a foundation of knowledge and know-how I developed from dozens of design/builds over the past 25 years, I'll guide you through the course. We'll integrate practical design skills with creative expression, and work together as a group to create a dwelling on paper, and as a 1/3 scale model.
Total time: About 48 hours of class time and 28 hours of hands-on training. I want every student to feel empowered to take action toward creating their dream home. You can do it, and you're not alone. I'm ready to help you breathe life into your projects.

We find ourselves caught in the trap of conventional, toxic
homes.
-
Paint
-
Pipes
-
and Floors

Continually toxify us through
-
Tainted tap water
-
Toxic chemicals
-
EMF radiation
-
and Deadly molds
This weakens our health...
....and the health of our families.
Despite pouring our hard-earned money into these homes...
...major repairs drain our wallets even more, as DIY repair
is often not an easy option.
These houses, designed & built by impersonal corporations,
lack soul.
And don't nourish the human biofield that is essential for our health and wellbeing.
Conventional houses don't really promote wellness...
...they drain our energy...
...instead of enhancing it.

On top of it all, we continually shell out for:
-
Water
-
Power
-
Sewer services
-
Fresh produce
...not to mention the red tape headache of securing permits.
Without proper guidance and instruction, people risk their homes collapsing, having moisture problems, and not performing properly.
That's why I created...

You’ll learn all the necessary skills and information needed to build a natural home...
...and I'll be there to guide and assist every step of the way.
In the first 6 days we, as a group, you'll learn the entire design process and do the architectural designs. We also incorporate Permaculture design principles.

We start by choosing the right design:
Such as:
- Planning
- Design Details
- Drawings
- Modeling
Then we explore various techniques:
- Adobe
- Cob
- Straw Bale
- Earth Bag
- Thin shell

So that you'll still be covered if you can't be there for all the sessions.
Scale Home
This way you will not just get theory......but will actually have the hands on experience of building as well.

So when the time comes to build your own, you're already competent.
(If you can't make it for the in-person portion of the event, you'll still get to review it virtually and get a similar experience.)

What People Say About
Training with Scott
Scott is a wealth of information and has a very fun and approachable teaching style. The intor to natural floors and the plaster and paints workshops were hands down two of the best weekends of my whole summer! I really enjoyed the hands-on learning experience, but perhaps my biggest takeaway was the jolt of inspiration and creativity that followed an experience that quickly progress from learning with strangers to building with friends. Exactly the energetic recharge I needed, and I look forward to attending future workshops! - Genevieve
recommend taking any workshop with Scott. He is a genuine human being, very kind, very knowledgeable and a very good teacher. – Tracy Wiegman
Scott Howard from Earthen Hand is a true professional. I've hired him on numerous occasions and have always been extremely happy with the quality of his work. Not only is his craftsmanship exellent, he is also a true artist and has the ability to think outside the box. He is straightforward and easy to work with as well. I recommend him wholeheartedly. - Leslie Satterfield
I attended an Earthen Hand workshop in which we constructed a beautiful cob garden shed. Scott is a wonderful teacher and all-around amazing guy. He made the build fun and informative, taking time to explain and outline alternative building methods and materials. It was a refreshing detour from other courses I've taken. I am now a contractor and Scott was my original guide into the world of green building. If you are looking to expand your building techniques for customers who want sustainable services or even just looking for a solid skill set, look no further. I thoroghly enjoyed the expereince start to finish. Many thanks - Ian Andre
Earthen Hand is an eco-conscious ethos that can help you design and manifest your construction projects into an artistic reality. Having attended several workshops, I have learned techniques such as how to procure and process raw natural building materials, low tech construction methods that work, and how to utilize unskilled labor in a fun and productive way. Working with Earthen Hand is a great way to help you build your confidence and skills to find fulfillment in something you and your community can be proud of! - Joshua McMahon
